California v. San Antonio

The dispute centered around Caltrans' plan to extend the 210 freeway through Upland, California. As part of this plan, Caltrans condemned over thirty acres of property zoned for residential use and diverted a massive amount of highly polluted surface water onto property owned by The Colonies Partners LP. Caltrans refused to pay adequate compensation for the land they acquired.

The Focal Point worked with lawyers at Miller Starr Regalia to achieve a major victory in this inverse condemnation case. The Focal Point developed numerous tutorials illustrating construction impacts, freeway contaminants, and water flow.

The trial was bifurcated. After The Focal Point's clients prevailed in the first phase of trial, Caltrans agreed to settle for approximately fifteen times more than it had originally offered to pay The Colonies Partners.
