Putting it all together for the jury.
The Focal Point knows how judges and jurors think. We know how they reach verdicts and what strategies you can use to increase the chances that they do so in your client’s favor. This knowledge and these strategies come from over 20 years of constantly being in or preparing for trial in courtrooms throughout the United States.
While each juror may have an equal vote, not every juror has equal influence on the eventual verdict. The most powerful jurors–the kind you want on your side once deliberations start–are those we call “Active Jurors.” These are jurors that successful trial lawyers have persuaded to shift from being neutral finders of fact to being advocates for one side over the other. Active Jurors are willing to argue (often quite forcefully) on behalf of the side they believe should win. They serve as the core around which other jurors attach themselves in ever increasing numbers until one side has enough jurors has enough votes for there to be a verdict.
To win, you need to develop a strategy that accomplishes two things. First, you need to convince Active Jurors that your side not only is right but one they want to actively support during deliberations. Second, you need to give these jurors the tools they need to advocate on your behalf and convince other jurors that your client should win.
